Why gamers are watching movies instead.
The Great Box Office Slump of 2005 has
become a source of
endless fascination for Hollywood watchers,
who speculate that the multiplex is not long for this world. Even worse,
the demand for DVDs, the industry's current cash cow, is beginning to
plateau. It's enough to make a studio executive fear that someday soon
he'll have to forgo the Ivy in favor of Del Taco.

Sony targets big boys
with all-singing and dancing games gadget
It's black, shiny
and sleek, and it's expected to become the must-have gadget for grown-up
games lovers. Priced at £180, the Sony PSP is being promoted as
more than just a games machine. Unlike its nearest rival, the
Nintendo DS, it plays full-length movies, downloads and plays songs and
video, and surfs the internet. Sony hopes its launch will break
Nintendo's near monopoly on handheld gaming and encourage adults to play
video games on the go.
